The bells
The tower holds six bells plus a small sanctus bell. The five largest of the bells were cast at the Oxford foundry of John Taylor and hung in 1836. The sixth bell was cast at the Ipswich foundry of Alfred Bowell and hung in 1905, when the original five bells were re-hung by Alfred Bowell, who also installed an Ellecombe chime to enable melodies to be played on the six bells from a mechanism then sited beneath the tower. This mechanism has subsequently been transferred to the ringing chamber, which is situated on the first floor of the tower.
