The organ at St Mary & St Giles
The Organ is situated in the West gallery. It is a Willis 3 Manual Organ and originally came from St George’s Church, Charlotte Square in Edinburgh. It has now been restored, with additional pipes and new casework being added after a 9 year fundraising campaign and a Heritage Lottery Fund grant awarded in 2014 for a 3 project of organ restoration, research, music programme, education and outreach. The first phase of works to rewire the instrument completely and refurbish the console took place in 2011. The final phase of restoration was completed in 2016.
Music for all at SMSG runs a variety of regular events for fundraising and musical enjoyment. Further information about the organ and the music programme can be found on the Music for all at SMSG website.
